  • 11/10/13--17:47: Swamp Wallaby
  • This weekend we visited the David Fleay wildlife park. We saw our first platypus and this swamp wallaby. Both are Australian animals found along the east coast of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

  • 11/13/13--15:55: Gold Night
  • Last night we went to Brisbane to film 3 bands for the YouTube channel MusicLive4U. Highlight of the evening for us was this 10 piece funk soul band called His Merry Men who were launching their new single Gold. I highly recommend you check it out. To process this image yellow/orange split-toning was used to achieve […]

  • 11/20/13--16:23: Surf’s Up
  • This photograph of a surfer and wave was taken at Injidup Beach in Western Australia in 2011. The weather here on the Gold Coast, Queensland has become unsettled recently. We have had a few thunderstorms. One produced 7000 lightning strikes and hail the size of golf balls. We are both fine and our van survived too.

  • 11/27/13--04:36: Real Lightning
  • This lightning strike was taken four days ago from our front balcony in Southport, Queensland, Australia. I have done one or two posts with fake lightning added with photoshop. This is the first time I have photographed lightning for real. The thunderstorms here on the Gold Coast often start in the afternoon heat. Even with […]

  • 12/02/13--04:35: Springbrook Waterfalls
  • This weekend we visited the Springbrook National Park close to the state boundary. It is a fascinating place. It lies on the edge of an ancient volcanic ridge which causes all Queenslands creeks to turn into New South Wales waterfalls.

  • 12/07/13--19:59: Shark Night
  • On Friday night we went to see soul funk band His Merry Men at the local Southport Sharks Gold Coast Club. I think this is Andrew Ball on the Baritone Saxophone who is part of the bands impressive brass section. The club was much bigger than we expected, feeling more like an entertainment venue with […]

  • 12/13/13--00:20: Brisbane Fireworks
  • These fireworks were part of the Brisbane Festival in September. It must be said that in Australia they like them big. I have photographed many displays in the UK after having early success selling this image on stock sites. I used the same settings 4sec, f11, iso100 which seems to get good results. Our van […]

  • 12/20/13--17:23: Three Camels
  • It has been a couple of years since I posted anything from Jordan so I processed this old shot of three camels in Petra. Jordan is a gold mine for the photographer. It is no wonder films like Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven and Indiana Jones The Last Crusade were shot here. I was only there […]

  • 12/23/13--16:18: Yellow Robin
  • I dug around for a festive image and found this shot taken in Springbrook, Queensland. Like much of Australia’s flora and fauna this eastern yellow robin was named by someone with a British vocabulary trying to describe an alien environment. This bird is closer related to the blue wren or honeyeater. Today we are getting the […]

  • 12/31/13--11:56: New Year
  • For those of you still in 2013 Happy New Year 2014 from Australia. I took this shot of the New Year  Sydney Fireworks from the tip of Cremorne Point. We had a clear 180 degree view of all 6 floating launch points plus the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The only drawback to our location was a rising tide which temporarily […]

  • 01/05/14--03:54: Monitor Lizard
  • This is a Lace Monitor Lizard we saw prowling around our campsite on our way back from seeing the Sydney New Year Fireworks. We took four days each way to go to and from Queensland and New South Wales so we had lots of time to explore the national parks and encounter the wildlife. More posts to […]

  • 01/10/14--04:00: Stunt Planes
  • I have posted a lot of animals recently so it is time for some Mechanography. These stunt planes were the warm up display before the Sydney New Year Fireworks. The show included dive bombing Circular Quay and doing a flypast of the Opera House. It was so low we could barley see the aircraft behind […]

  • 01/14/14--05:47: Rednecked Wallaby
  • This Red-necked Wallaby was the first thing I saw when I emerged from our van in the Guy Fawkes National Park in New South Wales. It had been a wonderful night. We camped in a spot next to the river and our own little waterfall. The ranger had left a huge pile of chopped wood […]

  • 01/17/14--06:03: Opera Evening
  • The Sydney Opera House is a remarkably photogenic building, which is helped by its position on the water in the harbour. There is a clear view from almost every angle. If you walk over the Harbour Bridge you can even look down on it. This shot was taken from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair in the Royal Botanic Gardens
